Timetable

The Middle Campus works on a timetable that promotes flexibility and middle schooling philosophies. The Year 9 timetable is part of the existing site’s 7-line timetable with 90-minute blocks. Two teachers teach the core subjects of Maths, Science, English and SOSE at Year 9, one of these teachers is also the Home group teacher. Home groups stay together for their core subjects.

In Year 7/8, classes also stay together for all subjects. The timetable is an off-line block timetable, created individually for each class. The timetable aims to maximise blocks of teacher time with a class whilst allowing for access to specialist facilities for practical subjects.

The timetable in Years 10 - 12 consists of seven “lines” with Compulsory Core and Elective subjects offered on each “line”. Each line occurs twice in the week and therefore a student experiences two sessions of a subject per week. The day is split into three blocks of 90 minutes each.

All year levels have a Pastoral Care time 8.45am - 9.00am. each morning. On Wednesdays, block 2 is devoted to school assemblies and an extended Pastoral Care time. This aims to increase positive staff - student relationships through a range of planned activities.

M
any students are able to undertake part-time paid work in their “off lessons” due to the flexibility in the block timetable. The large blocks of time are valuable to Year 11 and 12’s in terms of study, accessing necessary facilities (EG Technology Studies, Art/Design etc) and accessing teachers for assistance.
