School Transport PDF Print

The Department of Education and Children's Services (DECS) provides transport to students who live more than five kilometres from their nearest school. This policy is strictly enforced and bus routes are periodically adjusted according to the locations of students.

Over the years the DECS bus fleet based at the Eastern Fleurieu school has been reduced and replaced by buses operated by private contractors.

The DECS guidelines for bus travel do not provide for casual use of the bus service by students. Students are able to access Temporary Bus Passes within strict parameters.

All students using the DECS bus service must behave appropriately on the bus, within the Bus Travel Rules and obey the directions given to them by the bus drivers. Safety of all passengers and drivers is paramount. Misbehaviour can put this at risk. The School’s Student Behaviour Management policies and procedures apply to students on buses. Serious and consistent misbehaviour leads to suspension from the bus service as well as detention during lunch time.

Please contact the Bus Coordinator based at the Strathalbyn 7-12 site on 85362455 for information about routes and eligibility.
