The Society and the Environment learning area aims to develop in all students knowledge, understanding and the appreciation of;

• Societies locally, nationally and globally and of changing environments and systems over time.
• The nature, causes and consequences of interactions between, and interdependence of, environments and societies.
• Power of relationships, inequality and the distribution of wealth in society- Cultural diversity and social cohesion, and the different perspectives people have, acknowledging that these develop and change over time.
•  New careers emerging from new knowledge, technologies and demographic patterns.

All students at Strathalbyn R-6 access the Society and the Environment through classroom programs, which enable them to participate, in a range of ways, as ethical, active and informed citizens in a democratic society within a global community.
