The Arts

Those who work with their hands are labourers.
Those who work with their heads and hands are craft persons.
Those who work with their head, their hands and their hearts are Artists.

The Arts PDF Print
“The Arts” generally refers to five main art forms: Drama, Music, Media, Dance and Visual Arts.

Studying specific aspects of the Arts provides students with opportunities to understand, explain, challenge and reflect on their society; it also enables them to imagine better worlds. The Arts engage students’ intellect and creativity.

In the Arts, students create, interpret and critique a range of texts, images, forms, styles and structures. They develop and demonstrate their skills through writing, performing, painting, sculpting, and solving problems collaboratively.

Learning in the arts includes dance, drama, media, music and visual arts.

Students experiment with ideas and think in concrete and abstract ways within each arts form to develop their knowledge of concepts; practise and collect evidence of their arts skills; engage in a range of techniques, and use technologies appropriate to each arts form.

In the Eastern Fleurieu School, R-6 students have access to all art forms as appropriate to their level of development. The arts are accessed through classroom programs and across the curriculum R-6. It is often integrated but at times is taught explicitly in order to develop skills. Information about the arts in the R-6 campus can be obtained through the classroom teacher, Heads of Campus or Campus Coordinators.
